Ohio Facilities Construction Commission
In September 2007, the Ohio School Facilities Commission (OSFC, now part of the Ohio Facilities Construction Commission, OFCC) enacted Resolution 07-124. With this resolution, OSFC elected to use the LEED for Schools rating system as their roadmap for documenting and measuring the progress of their Green Schools Initiative for high performing, energy efficient buildings. For the OSFC, LEED for Schools certification provides parents, teachers and the community with a report card for their school buildings – verifying that the school has been built to meet a high level of energy and environmental performance. Schools in districts that were approved for OSFC funding after September 2007 are being designed to meet at least LEED Silver, with a goal of meeting the LEED Gold level.
